Power Outage
| July 11, 2011 | Filled under None |
The Chicago area got hit by some very brief but severe storms this morning, leaving thousands, including myself, without power. We heard that it may take 3 days for our power to get restored, but hopefully I’ll be up & running sooner!
My 10-month old & I were pretty bored today with no electricity. What do you do to keep you & your family entertained during a power outage? Click on the title of this post & leave me a comment below

Review!: Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, the Musical, in Chicago Through 8/7
| July 11, 2011 | Filled under Chicago Joy, Reviews/Giveaways |
After playing a sold out engagement in Chicago in April 2010, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast has come back to Chicago for 6 weeks through August 7th!
I have to admit, ever since I heard Lea Salonga sing in Miss Saigon, my absolute dream job has been to be a Broadway star! So I was thrilled when Broadway in Chicago invited me to watch Disney’s Beauty and the Beast! With that being said, I honestly have only seen one musical that I really didn’t like.
I love love LOVED Disney’s Beauty and the Beast! I was really impressed with how everything from the movie, which is a cartoon, was translated on stage with real actors. There were some great special effects! I especially enjoyed the choreography, the sets used in each scene, and the comedy throughout the show.
I wish my daughter was old enough to go with us to see Disney’s Beauty and the Beast because it’s also a family-friendly show. I loved seeing the little girls dressed in their princess dresses in the audience. Some of us even got to speak with some of the cast after the show, and I thought it was interesting that since there are kids in the audience, they get more of a reaction than they do with other shows.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is playing at the Oriental Theater in Chicago now through August 7th, Wednesday through Sunday each week. Tickets range from $18-$85, and are on sale now.
For more information, head to Broadway in Chicago’s website.
*Broadway in Chicago provided me with the tickets to watch Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. I am not being compensated in any way, and all of the opinions expressed are my own and true.
