Working Mom: Working at Home vs. In the Office & Things to Come

Working WomanThe busyness of September has caught up to me! A couple of weeks ago, I talked about us remodeling our basement after some major flood damage, my daughter turning 3 years old and going back to school, and me starting a new job that took me from working at home to working back in the office. I realize all of these changes have caused me to neglect My Joy My World a bit, and I apologize for that (not only to you, my readers, but also to those I have been working with and myself since I do love to blog).

I knew the new job and Lia starting school would be an adjustment, but I did not realize how much of a challenge it would be, especially with time management at home. Going back to work in an office, I am waking up 1-2 hours earlier than I used to and getting home at least an hour after I used to get off work when I worked from home. It’s taken a bit of getting used to as I find myself pretty exhausted by the time I get home. Also, now that Lia is going to school twice a week with an early dance class on the weekend, we are putting her to bed earlier than before, so I am finding myself missing her a lot. But I have noticed that I seem to be getting a lot more hugs from Lia which I totally love!

Other than the regular daily adjustments, my new job is going well. It’s quite a change working in an entirely different industry, but I feel like I’m learning quickly and can’t wait to finally start doing some work instead of just reading procedures. My husband actually works for the same company in the building next door where two of my old co-workers also work. It has been nice having them around so I always have someone to have lunch with and help me adjust. The reactions we get from people seeing my husband and I together have been pretty funny. We hold hands walking from and to the car and the guys tell my husband they’re sorry for him having to come to work with me and women usually say, “Awwww…”, haha! I didn’t realize it was rare for a married couple with kids to be holding hands, but I love that we still do! I kind of feel like we’re in college again walking together to class.

Now that I’ve been working at my new job for a week and a half, I finally feel like my body is starting to get used to my new schedule, and I can get back to blogging more regularly again. Stay tuned for some awesome reviews and giveaways on My Joy My World! I will also be announcing the winner of the August “Caption This” giveaway and will be posting a new fun picture for you to caption for a prize. Thanks for your patience 🙂
