Save!: 16 Oz Jamba Juice Smoothie for Only $2
| April 9, 2013 | Filled under Coupons, Food Joy, Savings Joy |
I love Jamba Juice! I usually like to mix it up a bit, but my favorite is their Razzmatazz Smoothie with an energy boost. When I’m starting to feel under the weather, I make sure to add their C & Zinc boost and it nips the sickness in the butt right away! They also have a new kids menu, which I love since I don’t have to share my Jamba Juice with my juice and smoothie-lovin’ little girl anymore and make sure they make some without any boosts (she always finishes her portion so fast and then wants to drink mine, lol)!
If you plan on heading out to Jamba Juice, make sure to sign up with Great Eats to receive a coupon in your e-mail for any 16 oz Jamba Juice smoothie for just $2! Signing up is FREE and you can choose receive more great offers to restaurants from Great Eats!

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about an event I attended at Restaurant.com’s headquarters where we learned more about their company and their programs such as Double Deals and Feed It Forward. I just want to share this article written by Restaurant.com about the event and all the bloggers, including myself, that they got to meet. There’s also a REALLY GREAT video with some of my favorite Chicagoland bloggers at the bottom of the article (there were some technical difficulties so I was not able to be included in the video, but I am in the article
). Please check it out, and if you have time, visit the other blogs too!
And don’t forget that Restaurant.com’s Feed It Forward program, which allows you to send $10 Restaurant.com eGift cards to your family and friends for FREE, is happening right now through January 1st, 2013! *There is a limit of 100 recipients, including 15 from Facebook, per day.

Yum!: Online Dove Chocolate Party – Ends 12/9
| December 6, 2012 | Filled under Food Joy, Mommy Joy |
Did you know that Dove chocolate has consultants called Chocolatiers who facilitate Dove Chocolate Discoveries parties? I attended a chocolate tasting party last night, and it was yummy and so much fun that I’m seriously thinking about becoming a Chocolatier myself!
I was able to try some of the items in the catalog and my favorites were the Chocolate-Covered Cinnamon-Dusted Almonds and Chocolate Martini Mix. The Sweet ‘N’ Spicy Cocoa Rub also smelled like it would be delicious on chicken or vegetables, and I would love to try the Chocolate Fig Balsamic Vinaigrette on my salads!
Just in time for the holidays, I’m hosting an online chocolate party where you can order some great Dove products that are not sold in stores. Here’s how to place an order:
- Go to www.mydcdsite.com/ginajohansen
- Click on the menu tab Shop Online
- Browse the Ready to Eat Treats, Drinks, Desserts, etc. and add the items you want to your shopping bag
- Click on Proceed to Check Out
- Click on Order Check Out
- On the next screen you will see two boxes. Choose the one that says, “Were You Invited to a Tasting Party” and click on “Yes, help me find my Host”
- Type in my first and last name (Melanie Angcay) and click Search. (This is important – otherwise you won’t be part of my party!)
- When my name pops up, select the box next to it and click on Accept My Host
- Proceed to Check Out
- If you have any questions or need assistance, contact my Chocolatier, Gina Johansen at gina.johansen@sbcglobal.net.
In order to get your products in time for Christmas, this is a quick online catalog party ending this Sunday, December 9th.
Which Dove Chocolate Discoveries item would you really love to try? Leave me a comment below

Save & Give!: Restaurant.com Double Deals Program & Feed It Forward
| November 29, 2012 | Filled under Deals/Discounts, Food Joy, Pay It Forward, Restaurants, Savings Joy |
A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of attending an event at Restaurant.com‘s headquarters to learn more about the company, their website, and some great offers they have going on for the holidays. In case you are unfamiliar with Restaurant.com, they offer restaurant gift certificates at a discounted price. For example, most $25 restaurant gift certificates only cost $10. They also often have promo codes to get an even deeper discount. I especially love to purchase gift certificates from Restaurant.com for gifts! You can choose gift certificates for specific restaurants (over 18,000 nationwide) or get general gift cards or eGift cards to send by email.
I have been using Restaurant.com for a few years now, but I thought it was interesting to learn that there is no money passed between the company and the restaurants. Restaurant.com is simply a way for restaurants to attract more customers by offering their gift certificates at a discounted rate. The cost is controlled by putting a minimum for each purchase when a gift certificate is used. I think the idea is pretty clever!
I have not used a Restaurant.com gift certificate for myself in awhile (we usually buy them for gifts to others), but I was happy to find out that they now have restaurant reviews on their website. The neat thing about it is that they are able to verify whether or not a reviewer actually ate at a restaurant and will only let a review be submitted if that reviewer used a Restaurant.com gift certificate at that particular restaurant. This ensures that the review is really authentic and trustworthy!
Restaurant.com has a couple of exciting things happening right now:
Double Deals Program
Restaurant.com just launched their Double Deals program which allows you to buy a $25 Restaurant.com eGift card and a $25 voucher to use a participating Double Deals business ($50 worth in gift cards) for just $25. This is a great deal just in time for the holidays! Click here for more information.
Feed It Forward: Celebrate the Spirit of Giving
Every year, Restaurant.com runs a program called Feed It Forward, which allows you to send FREE $10 Restaurant.com eGift cards to anyone on your list! This year, the promotion runs from today, November 29th, through January 1st, 2013, and you can send up to 100 $10 Restaurant.com eGift cards per day for FREE by accessing the Feed It Forward website and either logging into your Restaurant.com or sending them through Facebook! I have done this every year for the past 3 years and it feels great being able to give pretty much everyone I know a gift for the holidays. Head over to the Feed It Forward website to participate.

Review & Coupon!: HoneyBaked Ham
| November 8, 2012 | Filled under Food Joy, Reviews/Giveaways |

I can’t believe it’s already November and the holidays are just around the corner! A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of attending an event at HoneyBaked Ham in Naperville, IL to learn more about the company and what they have to offer. Did you know that HoneyBaked Ham does way more than just ham for the holidays? Their ham is super delicious, but they also offer sides, other meats, and desserts that can be packaged as a lunch for one person, dinner for family, catering order, etc. I received a HoneyBaked Ham dinner to take home for my family and me to try, but before I get to that, here is some interesting information I learned about HoneyBaked Ham:
- Their goal is to dinner easy and affordable for the busy parent.
- As mentioned above, HoneyBaked carries more than just ham. They have pork, beef, turkey roasts, ribs, shredded beef and pork in barbecue sauce for sandwiches, deli sides, desserts, whole turkeys, turkey breasts, thin sliced honey bacon, and more.
- HoneyBaked does catering for personal and businesses. They have options for every occasion.
- Their bread is delivered fresh daily from Highland bakery, and their produce is delivered fresh 3 times a week.
- HoneyBaked makes your holiday dinner easy. They have everything you will need to make your holiday dinner a success from the main course, side dishes and dessert, without the hassle of doing all the work.
- HoneyBaked has 2 loyalty programs: Buy five dinners and get the 6th for 50% off (dinner card), or buy five lunch boxes and get the 6th for FREE (lunch box card).
- They also have a fundraising program with fundraising coupon books that include $70 worth of coupons. HoneyBaked sells the book to you for $3 and you sell them for $7. That is a 57% profit your organization.
At the event, we were able to try slices of ham, smoked turkey, and roasted turkey, as well as a little bit of each of HoneyBaked Ham’s side dishes: broccoli rice casserole, cinnamon apples, garlic mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, green bean almondine, herb stuffing, macaroni & cheese, orange walnut cranberries, potatoes au gratin, spinach artichoke dip, and sweet potato souffle. They were all so good! The only side I really didn’t care for was the orange walnut cranberries, but I’m not really a cranberries eater anyway. We also had some pecan pie, which a lot of people really loved, although it was a little too sweet for me.
I got to go home with a pound of ham slices, cinnamon apples, sweet potato souffle, and a whole carrot cake. They were so easy to “make” – all we had to do was put everything in the microwave, and dinner was on the table within 10 minutes! Minus the carrot cake, the whole meal would have only costed about $26 and was more than enough for 4 people…we had enough left overs for my husband and I to pack for lunch the next day.
For dessert, HoneyBaked Ham also has the following available: cheesecake sampler, cinnamon walnut cake, coffee cake, red velvet cake, coffee cake, apple caramel walnut pie, rum cake, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and plain cheesecake.
I was really surprised with all the HoneyBaked Ham has to offer! For more information, including their menu and list of products, head to their website.

Question!: How long does it take to use a $240 Cold Stone Creamery gift card?
| September 9, 2012 | Filled under Food Joy, Restaurants |
About two years ago, I won a years worth of Cold Stone Creamery in the form of a $240 gift card at an event at the Chicago Toy & Game Fair. I was so happy to win the gift card because I LOVE ice cream (who doesn’t?), but I had just had a baby and was trying to LOSE weight! Lucky for us, it was during the winter, too cold to be going out for ice cream all of the time. We moved a few months later, so we didn’t have a Cold Stone Creamery close enough to go to all the time.
So, how long did it take us to spend $240 at Cold Stone Creamery? 1 year and 10 months! We just spent the last of it on our daughter’s birthday cake. I think we used the gift card on 6 ice cream cakes (all Strawberry Passion because it’s the yummiest ice cream cake EVER) and lots of Mud Pie Mojos, my favorite!
By the way, the Chicago Toy & Game Fair is November 17th and 18th this year at Navy Pier. We’ve had the pleasure of going the past 2 years, and it’s always a lot of fun! I’m really excited for this year now that Lia is old enough to enjoy it
