I am a Gleek. But I really didn’t realize how much of a Gleek I am until I watched Glee the 3D Concert Movie tonight. I really wanted to see the concert when they came to Chicago, but we had guests come in from out of town, and I really couldn’t see us spending as much money as we would have had to for concert tickets.

Being in different choirs in junior high school and high school, I have been watching the show, Glee, ever since the first episode, and I absolutely love it! As I’ve mentioned before, my dream job has always been to be on stage singing as a Broadway star, so my favorite part of the show is the singing and the different arrangements of songs. I realize that Glee the 3D Concert Movie is not for everyone, but if you are a Gleek who really enjoys the music and performances like I do, and you didn’t get a chance to watch Glee in concert, I think you’ll love the movie too

The movie also caters to those who love Glee for the message they send to accept who you are by including stories of real people who have been inspired by the show and its characters. I, personally, could have gone without the stories except for the one of the “Lil’ Warbler”, a cute little boy who performs the Warblers’ songs just like the character Blaine. My husband and I couldn’t stop smiling each time he came on screen.

The 3D aspect of the movie was pretty cool. There were parts where it seemed like we were really part of the audience in the concert. The close-ups were a little strange though, especially when the character on screen looked directly into the camera and it seemed like they were right in front of your face. But sometimes, I did want to reach out and try to grab the microphone. When they shot confetti in the movie, I almost expected to feel the confetti fall down in my lap.

The funnest part of the movie for us was when Darren Criss (aka Blaine) performed because my husband is actually friends with him (I met him once 2 years ago when he sang at my brother-in-law’s wedding, and he acts pretty much the same as he does on the show, except he isn’t gay and his hair was much longer then). I gotta say, it’s a little odd seeing someone you know on the big screen in 3D!

If you decide to watch Glee the 3D Concert Movie in theaters (or any movie for that matter), don’t forget to check out the deal for FREE popcorn at Regal Theaters on My Joy My World before you head out! I think Glee the 3D Concert Movie is only scheduled to be in theaters for 2 weeks (it came out on August 12th).
